Last Saturday, the boys and I spent some time in one of our favorite places...Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh. The bookstore's e-newsletter advertised Barbara Kingsolver's new book, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life. After picking up one of the three autographed copies that Quail Ridge had on the shelf, I sat down to peruse. After reading the first few pages, I was hopelessly hooked. I read several passages to my husband, Stephen, who also has a sincere interest in many of the issues that Kingsolver and her husband Steven Hopp highlight in this book. I went back to snag the other two autographed copies for my sister, Dana, and my close friend and fellow booklover, Melissa.
