Saturday morning...Off to the Farmer's Market
Stephen is in the shower and we are soon to be off to the market. After reading the website for Jessamine Shiitake Plantation, it seems that they will not be at the Pitt County Market today. We will have to drive to the Little Washington waterfront, about 25 miles away, if we want fresh mushrooms.

Terri, I find this absolutely fascinating! I'm going to have to borrow the book from Mom to see what she has to say.
This notion of eating what we have versus what we want is intriguing, and upon reflection, a fairly accurate assessment of how we eat in the US. I remember as a small child living "down on the Run" we would plant our garden every spring and then eat whatever was "coming in" throughout the summer and into Autumn.
Your story of the rosemary brings to mind the saying, "Waste not, want not." I look forward to seeing how your efforts continue.
Oh, and btw, those were some *gorgeous* shitakes! I bet they were divine :o).
